On morning Thursday I received a call from a dad asking me if I could come photograph their baby, knowing he was going to be born still. As a volunteer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep requests usually come from an area coordinator via email or call, not usually from a parent. This call was different. Mom is a photographer and had specifically picked me. With a heavy heart I waited for the call to let me know their son was born and at 8:30 p.m. I got ready to go to the hospital.
With their permission I share these images. I am sharing them because Owen is beautiful. His family is amazing and this particular session was very humbling for me. I feel like the English language doesn’t even have the right words to describe the heartbreak, love and sorrow captured here. Owen was here and will always be remembered.
oh what a precious little man he is!! The image of his sweet fingers is forever burned into my head- you are right, there are no words that can describe such love and such sadness. Hugs to this family!!

OMG, what a lovely tribute for an all too short, beautiful life and to a wonderful family who have given much to all who surround them. The photos capture the overwhelming love and grief of parents who lose a son WAY too soon… Oh, wonderful parents, one day you will greet your son again… Until that time, know that here on this earth you all are loved so very much…
